General Guidelines for Conducting Interviews when doing CALA tasks As part of the CALA requirements, students may be required to carry out an interview or prepare an interview guide. This article will help students in carrying out effective interviews. Interviews are important because they make the researcher get in-depth knowledge that might not be availed by a questionnaire. The interviewer can pursue in-depth information around a topic. Interviews may be useful as follow-up to certain respondents to questionnaires, e.g., to further investigate their responses.
